(More customer reviews)I own two of these carriers and purchased them because I do cat rescue and lug kitties to and from adoption events. I liked that there is a door on top so you can easily get a reluctant kitty out of the carrier. That said, after 5 months of weekend use, one of the two metal locking latches on the top door broke. You can't really use the carrier with one latch broken since it's unstable and unsafe, and there is no other way to carry the cat other than by the top handle. I searched for a replacement door on line. Guess what? Petmate does not make a replacement top door. If the carrier is within the one-year warranty, Customer Service says to find the receipt, take a photo of the broken latch (in case I am trying to scam them?), have the photo developed, mail receipt and photo to them and include a letter explaining situation, and then sit back to see if they will replace the entire carrier. It's not worth my time so if I do purchase another one of these, this one will just end up in a land fill someplace. It's pretty, but breaks too easily to be really practical. Also, the rubber tube cover on the carrying handle comes off quickly and won't stay on. Mine are off on both carriers. It hurts your hand to carry a cat with no padding at all. Customer Service says to buy something to wrap around and around it. I said "Perhaps you need to redesign the carrying handle."
