The pen set up easily. There was one problem. Inside the seams surrounding each of the wall panels is wire. When you open up the pen, these wires pop outward which holds the walls up and out from the floor base. The floor is permanently attached. Other models have removable floors which may sound great, but many reviews I read said it is attached with velcro and only at intervals, not continuous. Many dogs push their nose through during exploration and open up the bottom and of course exit. The purpose of the removal bottom is for cleaning. I find it easy just to crawl in and use a wipe to clean it.
Now for the defect. My unit has one wall panel where the wires in the seams around one wall panel does not pop outward enough thereby leaving the floor wrinkled and frequently the wall section pops inward at a wall intersection. I believe this is a defect with just this unit. I wanted to exchange it for a new one. There lies the problem. Amazon with regards to this seller has you contact the seller directly through Amazon's system to resolve any problems. I corresponded with Cavalier Wholesale with approximately 3 to 4 emails. Their responses were terrible and from what they said it appears they did not fully read my emails. This went on for a week and was wasting my precious time. I finally found how to bypass all of that and contact Amazon directly. I sometimes find it to be a chore to find the right web pages on Amazon where I can properly contact Amazon, might just be me, but I do not think so.
Amazon is handling it now and they said they would review my comments and possibly remove Cavalier Wholesale as a seller. On that one I won't hold my breath.
Unlike some reviews that rate everything including Amazon in their PRODUCT review, my extra information is to warn you to think twice about ordering this product if it is fulfilled by Cavalier Wholesale. I still love the product and wish I could be sure if it is the same one elsewhere. If it had been directly fulfilled by Amazon, this review could have been short, 5 stars and I love it. My past experience with sales fulfilled by Amazon is that exchange is quick and easy for defective products. I would of had a new one many days ago without hassle.
Now the bottom line. If I could find this on Amazon through another seller that is either Prime Delivery or one that does not charge an arm and a leg for shipping, I would buy it in an instant. Sadly it is not. I am now talking with a great customer rep at hayneedle.com. She has already contacted a manufacturer and found out that theirs also uses velcro at intervals to attach the bottom. I decided I would still like to order it if I can have my luggage repair store sew the bottom in permanently. At her suggestion, the rep, Robin, is now contacting the manufacturer again to find out the type of materials of the floor and wall to see if sewing them is an option. Again, I would have purchased another one from Amazon if it were possible. I love Amazon and place at least 30 orders a month.
