(More customer reviews)I bought this crate (size small, blue/tan) for our 10 lb Rat Terrier. It is tall enough for her to stand in and has more than enough room to turn around and lay down in with her legs stretched out. We leave a side of the crate open and she goes in it often to take a nap or chew on a toy.
The crate has a zip-opening on 2 sides and on the top. These "doors" are made of a heavy-duty, rubber-like mesh that roll up and stay up with velcro attachments. Although she's tried at times, the strong mesh won't budge under her claws. The two side doors have a hook to lock the zippers in place. Our dog can open the zippers if they are not locked. The 3 openings plus another side window keep the crate well ventilated.
The crate is attractive thick canvas. The bottom of the crate is reinforced with heavy plastic which keeps liquids in if there is an accident and makes it easy to clean. The crate is very easy to put up and fold down in a matter of seconds (once you learn how to do it). The crate comes with a great carrying case but it is the size of the base of the crate, not "the size of a brief case" as in the description.
When set up, the crate has a small carrying handle on each long side. Although it's lightweight, it is a little awkward to carry with the two handles - one larger handle would've been more convenient. The crate comes with a fleece pad which holds up well in the washing machine. However, it is difficult getting the thin piece of foam out of the fleece covering without it ripping.
All in all, I highly recommend this crate. It is well made, durable and attractive, easy to set up, easy to transport, and our dog is comfortable in it.
