Super Pet Guinea Pig and Chinchilla Come Along Medium Carrier, Colors Vary Review

Super Pet Guinea Pig and Chinchilla Come Along Medium Carrier, Colors Vary
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a fabric on the outside, vinyl (for easy cleaning) on the inside, carrier. It's cute and my guinea pig fits great. The only downside is that you need to put a towel or blanket inside because 1) the critters need traction and just slide all over without it 2) if they pee they'll just be sitting in it as the floor is vinyl 3) piggys get nervous and like to hide. I wouldn't plan to leave my piggy in it for a long time, but back and forth to Grandma's house is just fine. (45+ min) I like that it has zippered openings on both ends so I can sneak some veggies into the carrier if needed. The star has a mesh across it so you can visit with your piggy during the ride. My piggy (after 5 uses) is starting to chew on the inside a bit, but I'm still very pleased with this carrier. Give it a try!

The Ultimate Sherpa Bag On Wheels, Large, Color:Black Review

The Ultimate Sherpa Bag On Wheels, Large, Color:Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is for the MEDIUM size carrier, but if you're looking for an "airline approved" carrier, you should read it.
First of all, there is no such thing as and "airline approved" carrier. Here's why. Airlines are capricious about what carriers they will allow, this varies from flight to flight, and it has nothing to do with their written policies or the kind of plane you're in. If the flight attendants decide it doesn't fit under the seat, and they vary in their opinions about this, you can't fly with it. I had taken my dog in his wheeled Sherpa (medium) carrier on 15 trips in the 18 months I had the carrier, on US Air, AirTran, United, and Frontier (before Frontier quit allowing in-cabin pets). Most of the trips were on AirTran. But on an AirTran flight last year there were four people with pets on the plane, all with the same size Sherpa carriers (mine was the only one with wheels, and btw the wheels don't make the carrier that much taller, and the carrier will squish down a bit if necessary). One of the flight attendants decided the carriers were all too big and ordered the four passengers to put their pets in an 8" x 17" x 12" hard-sided plastic box. Three of us complied, but one couple elected to get off the plane rather than subject their pet to such a cramped carrier.
I love this Sherpa carrier and so does my dog. At home, I leave it out, and he goes into it often. It's his "safe place". But I haven't taken him with me on a flight since that happened (and I haven't traveled AirTran either).
The only other problem with the carrier is that one of the wheels broke off and there seems to be no way to fix it. But since I can't use it for flying anymore, that doesn't matter.
Other than that, it's just a great carrier, and the wheels worked fine for me (when they were all attached). I could easily pull my wheeled carry-on alongside the Sherpa with the same hand. The carry-on helped keep the Sherpa on track. But even by itself, the Sherpa was very easy to pull and turn as long as you kept its low center of gravity in mind when turning. You get the hang of it after awhile.
I'd get a guarantee from the airline that you can bring your carrier on board before I booked my seat. But unfortunately, once on board, you're at the mercy of the flight attendants. What they say goes, and since 9/11 and the Patriot Act, some of them have turned into Air Nazis.

Additional Note: I just now discovered on the Sherpa Pet Group web site that Sherpa has begun a "Guaranteed On Board" program, a partnership between them and several airlines. If you fill out the form on their web site, and take it with you when you travel to present to the airline, supposedly Sherpa will pay for your flight if you are denied boarding with their carriers (small and medium size carriers only on all airlines except Northwest). They don't say how you are supposed to get home if you are denied boarding though. This isn't Sherpa's fault. Obviously, they are doing all they can to remove barriers to in-cabin pet travel. [...]

Cat Tote Carrier in Black Review

Cat Tote Carrier in Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Forget about cats...this is the ideal "man bag" for a guy with a small dog!! My husband and I have his and her Chihuahuas, and he calls this his "man bag" for carrying Rio. It looks like a briefcase or computer laptop case and he has taken his dog everywhere in this bag. We travel all over the country with our dogs, and they go into restaurants, stores, etc., in these bags. (I use the pink/brown bag with my dog, when I want to match, or the dogs will be in the bag for awhile...they are really comfortable for them for long periods of time to be in, as they are roomy.
The mesh is finer, so a cat can't get his claws into it to rip, plus there is a lot of storage in the side pockets. It's big enough so our dogs can sit if they want, but they usually just curl up and go to sleep or chew on a rawhide while inside.
A truly great bag, for cats OR dogs. Has a shoulder strap as well as a handle (like a briefcase). Sits nicely on the floor without falling over. We just love ours and use them constantly.

Original Deluxe Sherpa Carrier (Medium) Review

Original Deluxe Sherpa Carrier (Medium)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After reading stories of people traveling with pets who were turned away at the gate/denied boarding because of a non-compliant carrier, I was quite concerned with how I would transport my new puppy from Dallas to California. I settled on the Sherpa brand because of their partnership with several airlines and the guarantee they provided.
Despite the guarantee from Sherpa, I was still concerned about whether my 8 week old, 8.6lb Boxer would actually fit in this bag. She stood 11.5" at the shoulder, which is taller than this bag - and the seat dimensions on Southwest indicated an 8.25" height. I purchased the Medium and Large Original Deluxe Sherpa Carrier and took both to a Southwest ticket agent to confirm if either complied. The Agent took one look at the MEDIUM carrier and said it would definitely work. The Large would be a challenge (the construction is rather rigid and not easy to bend). My pup was definitely taller than both bags. When she sat down in the MEDIUM bag, her head was at the perfect height for her to gnaw on the zipper surrounding the top opening of the bag. This kept her pre-occupied and did no damage to the bag. When it was time to enter the airport, I simply had her lay down and I zipped up the top. She had plenty of room to stretch out and to shift positions. Boxers tend to sleep on their sides with all four legs extended (like a horse) and my pup was in this position frequently.
The bag is of good quality. It is not luggage - three of the four sides are made of mesh which allows for air circulation and enabled my pup to see/smell me during the trip. I was also able to see through the mesh sufficiently enough to check on her throughout each flight. I read in other reviews that the bag did not feel sturdy with the pet inside...I only used the handles (not the shoulder strap) to carry my pup and when she was awake and active while I was carrying the bag, it did feel a little off balance at times. The same occurred when she was curled in a ball toward one end of the bag. But I would not describe the bag as unstable - there is a sturdy board that lines the bottom of the carrier and has velcro strips to hold down the fleece pad. I felt no sagging and at no time did I feel my pup was unsafe while carrying her. The zippered pocket on the end of the bag was large enough to hold my wallet, Kindle and a ziplock bag of puppy chews.
So, if you are traveling on Southwest Airlines, the MEDIUM carrier slides perfectly beneath the seat in front of you (we were on 737's). I do not think the Large would have made it without considerable 'smooshing.' Also, I'm guessing that in a month or so, there is no way my baby Boxer will fit comfortably in this carrier...for long term use, it is definitely sized for smaller breeds.

Medium Pink Kennel Cab Pet Carrier - 23 x 15.2 x 11.84 inches Review

Medium Pink Kennel Cab Pet Carrier - 23 x 15.2 x 11.84 inches
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This carrier is not as wide as described! The floor width is only 9" across. It might be 15.2 at the widest area but that is in the middle of the wall, not where the animal lays. I saw in the picture that the walls slant inward, but I thought the floor was where the measurement was being taken from. I have a 5LB cat who when I put her in the carrier was not able to turn around or lay down on her side. She had to lay upright on all fours. When I called the company they were helpful as in talking me into keeping it or send it back for a bigger one at my own shipping expense. I pointed out the carried was not the dimensions they claimed... well, that's nice, pay shipping and we will sent a bigger one. Since I already paid almost half the cost in shipping, I decided to keep it for kittens, which is all it has room for.

Pet Gear I-GO2 Plus Traveler Rolling Backpack Carrier for Cats and Dogs up to 25-pounds Review

Pet Gear I-GO2 Plus Traveler Rolling Backpack Carrier for Cats and Dogs up to 25-pounds
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a very large, over 25 pounds cat and I have been looking for a carrier that was big enough for him. This carrier fit the bill. It's a little bit taller than I expected (I was focused more on the width & depth measurements), so it is a nice size. It seems too big for airline travel, but it worked well for taking my kitty to the vet - he could move around comfortably and wasn't smushed up like the standard sized carrier I used to get him home from the pound. I really like that it is on wheels or can be comfortably used as a backback, but it seems too big and bulky to use the shoulder strap. It could use soem more padding on the bottom (I folded up an old towel, and I didn't try the leash tether.

Petmate Double Door Deluxe Pet Carrier, Medium, Color:Assorted Review

Petmate Double Door Deluxe Pet Carrier, Medium, Color:Assorted

My difficult cats are almost impossible to stuff into a traditional pet carrier. The top-loading feature on this pet carrier is a dream come true. It is so easy to simply drop the critters in through the large top opening, and the vet can open it and give them shots without removing them from the carrier, saving everyone concerned much aggravation. I only wonder why I didn't buy this marvelous device sooner.

Approved for airline travel, fits great under the seat. Lots of pockets and storage. Having it also usable as a backpack is so handy when you are also taking another carry-on. Make sure your dog fits so he/she is not cramped. I have a cockapoo almost 9 pounds and she just fits perfectly laying down. I highly recommend this bag.

Esc Reversible Sling Pet Carrier Brown/Blue Os Review

Esc Reversible Sling Pet Carrier Brown/Blue Os
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The sling information is clear that this is not for dogs over 10 lbs, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway since my pug is quite scrawny, though she is 13 lbs. She does fit in the sling but there is not enough fabric covering and containing her unfortunately. It's too bad because this is a nice product and it is reasonably priced. If you have a really small dog, ir is a worthwhile purchase.
My feedback to the manufacturer would be to please incorporate a larger size into the offerings.

both of my pups love being carried. they weight 4 and 6 lbs. i tried each of them in this item. neither enjoyed it what-so-ever and i was constantly attempting to make the bottom stay flat. it doesn't stay as it appears in the picture, but rather slides against the body so that the dogs appear to be slidding and sideways the entire time they are in it. would be a nice product if it had a strap that did indeed cause the bottom to be a bottom rather than like the side of a bag.

Nylabone Cozytime Pet Home and Carrier Review

Nylabone Cozytime Pet Home and Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this product to use as a pet carrier. It is lovely to look at and certainly works fine if you intend to use it as a stationary pet "home." However, given its breadth and rounded top, I can't carry it comfortably and [more important] in a stable position. If you plan to purchase a carrier [particularly if needed on a frequent basis], I suggest you look for something else.
9/5/10 follow-up to review of 8/19/10: Downgrading rating to 1 star. As I picked up carrier with 10 pound cat inside, carrier separated from handle and fell about 2 feet to floor. I reiterate that this product is fine as a cat home, but I definitely do not recommend its use as a carrier.

Deluxe Backpack Pet Carrier on Wheels Review

I will be traveling to Brazil with my diabetic 16 pound cat. I read the reviews over and over because I was afraid my cat wouldn't fit in it. The 18 inches long includes the wheels. The real lengh is 16. There is no way my 16 pound cat would fit comfortably in there. Only if she were smashed during the 15 hours trip. Since it's said here that it will carry a 22 pounds animal, I decided to buy it. I guess my husband will use it as a backpack now... and we'll have to buy another carrier for the trip.

Sherpa Legacy Ultimate Pet Carrier-Medium Review

Sherpa Legacy Ultimate Pet Carrier-Medium
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This carrier is excellent! I highly recommend for anyone traveling with a small dog. First, the dimensions of this bag are not correct on the Amazon site, they are: 18" D x 11" W x 10.5" H, Weight: 3.09 - this is from the Sherpa's Pet Trading Company ([...]).
I used this bag to pick up my 9 week old Shih Tzu. He was 3.5 pounds at the time and fit very easily in the carrier. I was able to fit him, a blanket, two toys and he still had plenty of room to move around.
I flew on two Delta airplanes and the carrier fit easily under the compartment in front of me, however it did stick out a little. It is a little long, but still complies with Delta regulations. Sherpa makes a "Delta approved" pet carrier, this Legacy Pattern bag is the exact same size as the Delta Approved bag - I even called the Sherpa Pet Company to confirm. The bag is not too wide, so you can place your feet on either side of the carrier.
I called Delta a few times to get the dimensions allowed for a soft kennel, carry-on bag. It took a few people to get a consistent answer. The size of the soft kennel for carry-on changes with the airplane you are on, so be sure to call to make sure the carrier is appropriate.
The bag is nicely ventilated and you have the option to cover up the sides of the carrier with the flaps. This feature is really nice to keep from over stimulating your puppy while moving around the airport. The flaps are easy to use, so when on the flight, they can be up for more air circulation. Other bags I have looked at do not seem to have a good amount of air ventilation.
The bag is extremely cute, I have received many compliments on it. Most people had no idea I was carrying a puppy. Also, there are two really nice compartments on the bag - one ideal for papers and the other for small things you may need on the plane.
As for the strength of bag, I cannot comment too much on that. My puppy slept almost the entire trip (7 hour total travel time), so he never tried to claw or bite at the mesh paneling. The bag weighed more than my puppy, but was comfortable to carry using the shoulder strap.
I highly recommend this bag if you are looking for a nice quality, doesn't scream "I have a pet" bag to use for airplane travel.

Teafco Argo Airline Approved Aero-Pet Carrier Review

Teafco Argo Airline Approved Aero-Pet Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this for our 16 year old, 9 lbs. cat to travel in cabin from JFK to LAX (6 hour flight). It was the perfect solution! Things I liked about the carrier:
-Private: the mesh on the sides is done in such a way that others can't really see the animal inside. Our 16 year old isn't a big fan of people outside of the family and because of the design of this bag no one knew there was a cat traveling inside.
-Outside pocket: Enough room for a leash and anything else small you may need.
-Overall Design: The design is great - modern and doesn't scream "I AM TRAVELING WITH A PET". Later on in our trip (we moved to China and had to switch to hardsided carrier appropriate for cargo travel) we used it as a dirty clothes carrier - nice as a duffle bag too!
Things I wished were included with the carrier:
-Handles like on a duffle: The bag comes complete with the sholder strap and two handles, but the handles must be used with two hands. It would have been easier to have handles like a duffle bag that could be grabbed with one hand.
Amazon has a great price (especially on the orange one) and with Amazon Prime shipping it came quick - good thing because we waited until the last minute to purchase.
